Building tools, not tipping lines

I’m a software developer and editor. For years I’ve written betting education and sportsbook-facing copy—odds formats, rollover math, parlay structure—plus shorter pieces for gaming products: help-centre articles, bonus terms in plain English, and responsible-play messaging. This site is where I put the same rigour into code: fast calculators that show their work, with no account wall and no “lock of the day.”

Where my writing lived before

Editorial never lived in one place. I’ve contributed long-form guides and refresh copy for sportsbook comparison and review verticals, short explainers for affiliate betting sites (how vig shows up in a line, why implied probability matters), and microcopy for operator blogs aimed at new account holders. On the casino side, I’ve scripted FAQ and tooltips for slots and table-game lobbies, always with an eye on clarity—players should know what a feature does before they opt in.

The thread through all of it: respect the reader’s time. Jargon when it’s useful, plain language when it isn’t, and never a promise you can’t back with arithmetic.

What I’m doing here

Betting Odds Calculator is the opposite of a picks service. Every tool runs in your browser so you can sanity-check a line, compare formats, or estimate a payout without handing over an email. I maintain the formulas, chase edge cases (alternate lines, dead heats, weird parlay rules in the FAQ), and rewrite the blurbs when something confuses first-time visitors.

  • Odds conversion and implied probability, written so it survives a second read.
  • Payout and hedge calculators that match how books actually settle bets.
  • Copy that treats readers as curious adults—not marks.

How I work

I cross-check math against published definitions (American, decimal, fractional, regional formats), then stress-test the UI on slow devices. When industry wording shifts, the glossary and FAQs get an update. If something is ambiguous in the wild, I’d rather explain the assumption in a footnote than ship a black box.

Entertainment only. This project does not offer real-money wagering, picks for sale, or personalised advice. Use the calculators to learn and compare—if you choose to bet elsewhere, do it only where it’s legal for you and within limits you set yourself.
